L.A. tagger Revok arrested at LAX

Revok, one of Los Angeles' best known graffiti writers, was arrested as he prepared to board a plane to Ireland at Los Angeles International Airport, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported.

Jason Williams, a.k.a. Revok, was taken into custody Thursday for an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to pay restitution, according to sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker.

Authorities claim Revok is a member of the graffiti crew Mad Society Kings, or MSK. Officials from the sheriff's department were notified that there was an outstanding warrant against Revok for failure to repay victims of previous vandalism incidents.

That led to his arrest, officials said.

Revok is being held in the Los Angeles County Jail in lieu of $320,000 bail.

Taking humanity and pluralism to the streets

Street cred: Artist Goodit’s slogan for the Sunday 13th Street Art Movement is painted in white in the middle of a street in Jakarta. Goodit was the first to create street art for the nationwide street art movement.Artist Bayu Widodo stood in the dark during the wee hours of morning, illuminated by the yellow hue of Yogyakarta’s street lamps and the flicker of a traffic light.

His hands worked fast as he sprayed paint onto the walls of a building on the corner of Jl. Katamso and Jl. Parangtritis.

Less than 30 minutes later, a picture of a lugubrious skull with a heart symbol stamped on its forehead emerged as Bayu finished his mural.

He drew curvy lines connecting the skull to a stencil of words he had pasted prior to painting the skull, which said: “Agama antara aku dan Dia bukan aku dan mereka”(Religion is between Him and I, not them and I).

It has been a while since Bayu, whose street name is BYWDD, ventured into the streets to “bomb” walls. Street artists use the term bombing when drawing graffiti, murals, stencil art, posters, or tagging in public spaces.

The last time Bayu did a mural prior to the stencil and skull he drew on Feb. 13 was early last year during the Yogyakarta Biennale.

It was a call from a group that goes by the name of Indonesia Street Art Movement which brought Bayu to leave his mark on public spaces.

When news about violence on religious minorities — Islamic hardliner attacks on Ahmadiyah in Cikeusik that killed three Ahmadis and radicals burning churches in Temanggung — surfaced in the media, the group called for street artists to take part in a nationwide street art movement on Sunday, Feb. 13.

The street art event, focusing on humanity and pluralism, was called “Berbeda dan Merdeka 100%” (100 percent different and sovereign).

Through social network sites on the Internet such as Twitter and Facebook as well as SMSs, the group spread the word about the Sunday 13th Street Art Movement to artists across the country. In their call for action, the group stated the event on Sunday 13th was a solidarity movement initiated by street artists to respond to the “latest situation”.

“‘100% DIFFERENT AND SOVEREIGN’ — is a simple and brief call to remind everyone to continue to respect differences and keep trying to be 100 percent sovereign,” the group stated.

The call was answered. Not only by Bayu, but also by dozens of established street artists and first timers. The call was answered by an Indonesian living in Singapore, Alexander Averil, who made stickers with the tagline “Berbeda dan Merdeka 100%”. Dozens of artists in Jakarta responded too, as well as artists in Bogor, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Malang, Wonosobo and Jember. Artists in the island of Kalimantan took part in the movement as well as an artist from Tanjung Pinang.

The group posted pictures of street art on the websites Indonesiastreetartmovement.tumblr.org as well as respectastreetartgallery.com.

Debutant: Radio announcer Nastasha Abigail’s version of Sunday 13th Street Art Movement’s slogan stands out in block letters on a wall at Jl. Cinere Raya in Jakarta. The Feb. 13 movement gave Abigail the momentum to paint a mural in public space for the first time.On respectastreetartgallery.com, Anggun was quoted as saying that his car stood side by side with white-robed Islam Defenders Front (FPI) members on Feb. 13 along Jl. Sudirman. Artist Oom Leo placed stickers on Jakarta’s electricity poles, post boxes and trash bins. One of the stickers stated: “Rather than refusing Ahmadiyah, it’s better to refuse bullets”.

Initiators of the movement were three Jakarta-based artists who refused to be identified. Their identity was not important, they said; their message is.

On a cloudy afternoon in Jakarta, the three artists told The Jakarta Post that the group had planned a street art movement for a while. They were looking into urban issues as a theme, and then the violent attacks on Ahmadiyah happened.

“We changed the theme to a more critical issue,” one of the group members said.

Another member added that the movement aspired to raise awareness about respecting differences.

“It’s a small way to turn down violence,” he said.

Back in Yogyakarta on Feb. 13, Bayu along with several friends, including Adit Here Here and Rolly LOVE hate Love, sprayed the movement’s tagline on walls.

Bayu said the idea behind the movement inspired him to take part in it. The text he had prepared for the occasion had been written in 2007.

“The moment is right given the current situation, which is dominated by blind fanaticism,” he said.
His latest works tend to feature skulls.

“This [skull] represents a person who died for love,” Bayu said. Unlike the Ahmadis who were killed during the attack, Bayu added.

“What happened then was an unnatural death.

“For me every belief, whatever it is, must be respected.”

Meanwhile, Adit Here Here, a student by day and street artist by night, painted a cat with a thought balloon saying: “I’m a president. I can only be concerned.” Adit said his mural criticized President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s administration handling of the attacks on religious freedom.

“This [movement] is a form of protest,” he said.

The initiators of the movement explained they wanted to emphasize the universal theme of humanity and pluralism without being burdened by one particular group’s political interests.

“We thought hard about how to create a neutral movement. It’s not about bringing SBY down or talking about Islam. We avoid political issues and religion and stick to what’s universal,” the initiator said, referring to Yudhoyono by his popular acronym.

Street artists as well as individuals who had never put their mark on the streets responded to the movement’s universal message.

Nastasha Abigail, a radio announcer in Jakarta, chose to paint one of the walls of a side street near Jl. Raya Cinere. Intrigued by her work, 10 local youth came to help her ou.

Cultural observer Hikmat Darmawan, currently in Tokyo for research, said in a telephone interview that the movement was a reflection of humans’ visual world.

“It isn’t enough to respond to violence carried out under the name of religion with theology,” Hikmat said.

The movement was a cultural guerrilla movement, he said, which explained why it was important for the initiators to remain anonymous. “There shouldn’t be any heroes.”

He added that street art was anonymous by nature.

“It’s an expression of visual art that rejects the logic of institutionalized art. It’s not meant to be collected. It’s not placed in an art temple where people have to pay a high price to see it.”

It is also a movement to reclaim public spaces from corporations and politicians that places billboards and advertisements there.

Hikmat said street art was a movement that connected directly with the public. Artists responded to the current events through visual art “with an expectation that the art will crate an aesthetic and intellectual sensation”.

“It works directly with emotional sensation,” Hikmat said.

According to Hikmat, the street art movement was not directed solely at the government. “It’s not an institutionalized political movement. Their statement or movement does not attempt to change how the state acts,” he said. “The purpose is to provoke a shift in perspective, to provide an alternative idea to society,” he said.

The main message of the street art movement, Hikmat said, was directed at the public.

In a similar light, Bayu said the movement wouldn’t have much impact on those in power if it was done in public places. Artists need to choose places that are more controversial than the streets to get through to the government, and get it to respond to the hardliners’ violent attacks.

“A more radical approach would be to paint at the Presidential Palace. That would be a big issue. Or at the MUI [Indonesia Ulema Council] headquarters,” he said.

“A movement if done in the public space is still considered safe.”

The initiators said the movement was aimed at reclaiming public spaces that had been “co-opted for commercial use by corporations”. It also endeavored to campaign for pluralism.

“With the theme, people have a unifying thread that purely strives for humanity and pluralism,” he said.

Iz The Wiz is without question one of New York City’s most prolific writers of all time. He holds the title of the All time All City King of New York City Subways, and only one person holds that prestigious honor. In aka Kill 3 is credited with the most extensive all-city bomb in NYC during 1975 and 76, but Iz was the longest reigning all-city king in NYC history, taking the title many times throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Iz was well known for his throw-ups in the mid 1970s on the IND and BMT subway divisions. In the late 1970s he broadened his focus by working on top-to-bottoms, burners and scenery whole cars on the prestigious 2 and 5 lines of the IRT subway division. During this period he simultaneously maintained all-city throw-up king status. He painted for a variety of top level crews. He has served as president of The Master Blasters and the Queens division of Prisoners Of Graffiti. He has also painted for The Odd Partners, The Crew, The Three Yard Boys and others too numerous to mention. Iz appeared in the documentary film Style Wars and portrayed a transit police detective in the film Wild Style. His work has been displayed in museums and galleries throughout the world. Iz played a major role in the development of writing and provided inspiration for every generation of writer that exists. Hailing from Queens Iz took over the city subway system line by line. During his career, there was a time when he was doing at least 100 throw-ups every night, for an entire year. The dedication and love for writing is apparent in all of his works, from the burners on the trains, to the sketches on paper, and the canvases that capture the essence of writing, Iz often drops little side notes next to his the pieces, a little message that takes a minute to sink in and when it does, you always get a grin. Iz is also known for his epic role played in the film Style Wars. His witty remarks remain some of the most quoted words and phrases in the writing lexicon. When just the words you have said 20 years ago are recognized and used in current conversations, you have successfully made your mark in the world. In the film Iz was asked “when will you stop”, and he replied “will come back every now and then to let people know I am still around.” The true beauty is the fact that he never left and continues to bless the people with gems that capture the essence of what graffiti writing all about.

FC: Where are you from? What’s your background?
DtC: It’s not where you’re from, it’s where you’re at. My background is a red/yellow plaid right now, but hopefully moving towards a dark electric purple/black real soon.

FC: haha ok How would you define your work and what inspires you?
DtC: I would define my work by drawing a fat black outline around it and attaching fairy lights. I can’t tell you my inspirations, they are a secret (ie I can’t be bothered to write “I’m inspired by life” or whatever I usually answer to this question) NEXT!

FC: ... What was the interest in art and what lead you to create all those things?
DtC: I like to be on my own and art requires no one else. I have to create “those things”. It’s that or the end.

FC: What was your best and your worst creation?
DtC: My best? A poem I wrote for my father about power tools. The worst? the answers to this interview…

FC: Thank you! If your style was a music band or a song? Which one would it be?
DtC: It would be a 24 hour mix tape, compiled by Mr Trick and Jimi Mullett and Phil from the Stool Pigeon and Slobadahn Burger from Team Kaputt. Or it would be my old punk band, The Shits. Definately all twelve of those things put together, with a night at Ayako and Dan’s place thrown in.

FC:What is your relation with skateboarding?
DtC: She is a harsh mistress. She liFCs me up and throws me back down. I ache for her when she’s not here, and ache when she is. I can never be good enough for her, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t keep leading me on. I fucking love that cruel, beautiful, incredible bitch with a passion. It’s waning a little with age, but every hit is still as good as the first.

FC:What’s your worst habit?
DtC: Not backing down, or turning the other cheek. And talking shit. Is cowardice a habit?

FC:What kind of books do your read?
DtC: Works of fiction mostly. Read more, and not just drivel on the internet. Currently I’m reading “Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell” by Susanna (?) Clarke as it was in my flat mates room (as was Aldus Huxley’s “Brave New World” which I read prior to that, and recommend) I’m a big fan of Kurt Vonnegut, who’s up in heaven now (heh heh!)

FC:What kind of movie do you see?
DtC: Last films I watched were “The Adventures Of Tom Thumb”, an animation by the Bolex Brothers, and “Iron Man” at the cinema.

FC: Do you do drugs? Do you need something particular to be creative?
DtC: I used to smoke a lot of weed. but now I’m clean, other than the occasional alcoholic drink. I don’t really like drugs and alcohol, I’m already fucked up enough…

FC:Do you feel the work you are doing is something that should be preserved or stayed transcience?
DtC: No, fuck it. I paint in the street for the moment, for the experience of the moment of making it, and so it can’t be owned and won’t last forever. What’s the point of living forever?

FC: Do you dream in graffiti and colors ? (Your productions make me think of dreams… or cartoon dreams…)
DtC: I don’t think I dream art pieces. When I remember my dreams it’s usually because they are so fucking weird I’m freaked out and worried for my mental well-being…

FC: What did you do last week?
DtC: Last week I was in London. I partied a lot for four days, had three barbeques, saw lots of very dear friends, rode my skateboard in the sunshine, painted a graffiti piece which caused lots of idiots to write shit about me on-line, slept in various different beds, got fed by various different girls, sold some old paintings, and really enjoyed being in London in the sunshine and without having to work.

FC:What was your most adventurous and dangerous tag/graffiti artwork?
DtC: Dropping a stencil of Osama Bin Laden on the tail of a Tyrannasaurus Rex. Only kidding - I wouldn’t be seen dead putting up a stencil! I don’t know the answer to this really. Saru and me hung a banner from the top of a five storey building that had no roof or floors inside, so no matter which way we fell we would have died or been crippled. I guess that was kinda dangerous. but we didn’t fall, so maybe that negates the danger. And Neck Face and Brad Downey had already been up there, so that kind of lessens the impact too. Nomad and me painted a piece in Bulgaria that dissed over 20 writers in one go, but I don’t think they were smart enough to understand we were dissing them! though I have to say, Bulgarian scaffolding is fucking sketchy shit, so here was plenty of danger involved in that piece, one way or the other…

FC:What kind of reaction do you want to evoke from your art?
DtC: If I can get people to engage their brains and think about something, that would be great. If I can make them happy, that is also good. And if I can just stop them from thinking negative thoughts or consuming the earths resources or shit like that for a few seconds, then at least I’ve achieved something.

FC:Did you get girls easier with your art skillz?
DtC: No, you get girls easier by actually being passionate about something. And you lose them easier by being too passionate about something. It’s a tricky balancing act…

FC: Describe a typical day for Dave the chimp:
DtC: Wake up, kill a gypsy with my eye-canons, wash a dead cat with a piece of sponge and powdered glass, answer emails in Russian, answer Russians with laser quest tickets, bicycle on the moon, spoon, june, lemon and orange cake with the little black bits, tadpoles, bye bye Riley, we love you. Except Tuesdays when I lay in a coffin beating off all day.

FC:What are the essential tools you use to create your pieces?
DtC: Brain. Hands.

FC:How do you choose your images and where they are placed in the street?
DtC: They choose, I’m just the conduit.

FC:What do you think about hype?
DtC: Pretty much the same as he thinks about me. But in pink.

FC:Name an artist whose work you respect and admire.
DtC: Glenn Barr. PMH. Stefan Marx. Ayako Tsunekawa. and about 50 billion others, but it’s 3:31am so those are all I can be bothered to mention right now.

FC:How would you describe street art and what makes it different than graffiti or would you say it all falls under the same umbrella of shit. Don’t you think it’s totally different?
DtC: If by “graffiti” you mean the act of writing your name on a wall with a spray can then you’ve already answered the question. there is “graffiti”, and then there’s “everything else”, which the media calls “street art”, a terrible term as it pre-supposes that the stuff is “art”, and very little of it is. “Art” is so hard to define. It’s like love, it’s something you feel, deep inside. You can’t just walk up to someone and tell them they’re in love, so why would you think you can tell someone “this is art”?? There’s the difference right there - a graffiti writer wouldn’t have said that…

Wait, I just re-read the question. My answer is “yes, it all falls under the same umbrella of shit”…

FC:How do you feel about the commercialization of street art in recent years?
DtC: I think it’s absolutely super terrific and my trousers are made of 50 euro notes. Where’s my car? Bring it around front, I gotta go pick up my jewellery from the cleaners… Hail Hail Banksy the king and his army of douche bags. Seriously. My friend sold a Banksy print for 70,000 euros and opened a gallery in Milan, and flew me over to party. So let’s hear it for Banksy, now finally the general public notice us when we paint in the street. Now if we could just educate them to see the difference between the work, and stop asking us if we’re Banksy, then maybe we can all get a slice of the pie…

FC:What’s coming up in the next few months? Show etc…
DtC: My solo show at Extrabold in Luxembourg just closed, and I have a solo show at Vicious gallery in Hamburg opening July 27th. working on a couple of screen print projects, doing a live drawing thing at Cargo on the 6th June, new decks coming out with Hessenmob, and a special project launching which, if I told you about it, would sound great, but aFCer working with these people for a year, and being constantly dicked about, and seeing the project shrink and shrink, now I’m at the stage where I care about it so little I don’t even want to talk about it…

FC:What’s your real goal?
DtC: To live every day in the sunshine

FC: Where are you from Sea?
I’m Italian, actually i live and work in Milano.

FC: Tell us about your beginnings and your discovery of graffiti...

During my childhood my family used to take me on the seaside in a special place in Italy full of graffiti. I started to be curious about that incredible world with strong colors and powerful shapes, at that time everything was so mysterious for me.   I started copying famous artists and then step by step i created my personal style on lettering.

FC: What's the meaning of your name?

Sea has always been with me. I used it as my personal tag because i really love these 3 letters

FC: Tell us more about the Spruzzers...

Here’s the complete Spruzzer team: Sea, ReFreshInk, IlBorse, Vine and Catù form Barcelone! Spruzzer have been working together since 2007... All of us belong to the graffiti world though we got different backgrounds. We are just friends who enjoy painting together! We think the best thing is putting different styles in a unique combination. We always prefer painting on old farms walls, we look for them because we love to give them a new life through our works. I’ve got many favourite albums, at this time I really love Shocking Blue.

FC: Favourite color?

Black   .

FC: Name an artist (or many) whose work you respect and admire.

I got inspiration from many different artists, I always try to learn something from all of them. The most important have been Phil Frost, his style is really magic and powerful, and of course Dare who influenced an entire writers generation!

Style and Flow:

FC: You seems to appreciate contextual street art. Sometimes your characters interact with the reality or they look like they are looking to our world...
I really like to get inspiration from special places, it's important for my creativity to feel good and be always motivated by the places, so my characters can be more realistic, interactive and full of good vibrations.

FC: What's about the pyramids and the eye in your painting?

My representation of third eye is very ironic, it's just my way to look at the world... open your minds to the essential!

FC: You don't use spray cans don't you? It seems that you prefer use brush.
No, no... i used sprays for many years when i was a graffiti artist, then i switched to brush style.

FC: Do you need something particular to be creative?

I don't believe you need something particular to be creative, but there are some simple things that help you to express yourself.

FC: What was your best graffiti/street art experience?

Each experience is unique... the best part of my street art experience is about moving and meeting different people around the world.

FC: Do you practice other forms of art? I saw some wheatpastes of you, and you are well known for your designs. But you also do sneaker and toy custom, painting on wood...etc. What do you prefer, and what do you want to try in the future?

I don' t stop trying new stuff on my works: i constantly test new materials and techniques. For example, recently i made some tests with incision technique, etching and xylography. It's a really interesting world!

FC: There seems to have been a sudden surge of interest in graffiti and street art recently, why do you think this is?

Just fashion, no culture development. Anyway i guess some people could learn by the time to appreciate street artists and give value to the whole movement.

FC: What kind of reaction do you want your art to evoke?

I don't put a message on my paintings, i just want to give a new life to old and abandoned walls .

Last week, the whole graffiti and street art world was talking about Cope2 arrest.The New York Daily News made up a story on him... Here's an exclusive FatCap interview with Cope2.

Only the truth...

FC: Can you explain to us what happened with the trains and the police?

Here's the real deal: I was in Montreal when i got a call from the VSQ (Vandal Squad). At first i thought it was a prank call but it was really them they said they had something to show me. I was like what ? i don't do nothing illegal so what you want from me? So he said if i don't meet up with them with or without a lawyer, there going to get a warrant out for my arrest...

So knowing how the VSQ gets down, i ain't want them running up in my crib, tearing the place up when i got 3 little kids in the house... Not cool... So when i got back to NYC i hit up my lawyer told him the deal and we hooked up with the VSQ.

They had some stuff that they found in 2 people's emails that they said i did which was not true. So regardless if it was mine or not they still had to arrest me for it. I guess it's there job so there just doing there thing which is all good... i'm not even angry at them. I'm angry at the 2 idiots who was messing around in emails. Because of them this is why i got into this mess. Ok? I never ever got caught in no fucking train yard...

FC: OK so you were not caught in a train yard... How did the police "catch" you?

Me caught ? HAHAHAHA that's the funnest thing i've heard in years!! Of course not i had to turn myself in because if not the VSQ would have gotten a warrant for me anyway so it's just makes things worst. I don't have time to be hiding from some bullshit graffiti charge that they said i did. So i took my lawyers advice and turned myself in i never said a word about the case, i just went straight through the system saw the judge and got out on R.O.R no bail no nothing just have to go back to court in january that's it.

FC: How did the new york daily news create this story? Is there any truth to what they wrote?

Oh man come on the problem is that the Dailynews kept calling my cell to try to get my story and i said "no leave me alone", i was already angry... They even went to my father's house and hit my son on facebook trying to get a hold of my story, so i guess since i didn't want to talk to them they make up some fucking "Alice in wonderland story" up and just put it out there. That's really crazy how they can just disrespect someones character like that without knowing the truth. Now i see what the actors and singers and big movies stars go through.

It was really funny to me because if you read it good, you got to be a real idiot to believe what they wrote because it says how i said to the police how i painted the train and buffed my piece and just drove away!! But if i drove away how did i get caught? If you caught me in the train yard!!!?? It's so stupid!! Then they try to hype it up by calling Peter Vallone and tell him what happened to see what he thought about it... Come on like he really cares! Nobody does only my haters!!! But i got something for all you haters out there who i'm sure was celebrating when you heard that i had gotten caught in the train yard!! Nooooo baby sorry to disappoint you haters but not this time!! So go fuck yourselves.

FC: Where are the pictures of your train from?

Well they said they got it through someones email who was emailing trains around to other writers. That's why he went and did an upstate bid because he was emailing his trains and others to other writers. He knows who he is, i don't want to put names on blast but the worlds going to know soon anyway so i'll just let it be. And there's another stupid bitch who runs her mouth in emails talking about how me, her and another writer went to a train yard and got spotted by a worker so we gave the worker money so he can let us paint the trains... I never did any train with females so by her talking shit like this in her email you give the VSQ a reason to come after me feel me so it's not the VSQ fault it's the 2 idiots. By the way that's why she did 2 prison terms for trains.. you know who im talking about.. You don't go to prison cause you're hardcore or you're keeping it real!! You go to prison cause your a stupid fucking idiot and you don't do your shit correctly or have your life in check ok... so get the fuck out of here with this "keeping it real" and hardcore bullshit just because you did time in prison for graffiti, you assholes!!

FC: What is next for you?

Just keep being Cope2, doing my thing worldwide galleries and huge projects. I'm done with the illegal shit it's not even worth it. I've paid my dues i got nothing to prove to anyone, i'm just sick of this whole graffiti shit. So many damn haters it's really unbelievable i just don't understand how writers and people hate on others so damn much... Come on! Do your thing! Don't worry about the next man on how much he's making or who he's painting with or how dope or wack his style is... Get the fuck out of here already with this bullshit i'm just so sick of it i'm really going to just do me now fuck everybody cause when you look out for niggas you still get hated on by them or there always fucking bitching and winning about something i'm fucking done, it's my time to rule this planet cause ain't nobody gonna do it for me but just try to destroy me and it won't happened only god can do that and as long as i got his back i'm good all the way baby!!

FC: How can the fatcap community support you through this?

FC: Any advice for these situations?

I guess if your going to be an illegal graffiti writer be smart about what and how you do things not like the 2 idiots who got me in this mess, you know what's the funny thing is even the VSQ said i'm a smart dude... It's not my fault, thanks to the 2 idiots i'm good though thats life!

Singkat cerita, Beltran lahir dan dibesarkan untuk menjadi “GodMother” Meksiko.Pamannya adalah Godfather penyelundupan narkoba Meksiko. Dia mendapat julukan itu karena dia memfasilitasi hubungan antara kartel Valle del Norte Kolombia dan kartel Sinaloa, dan membantu mengembangkan rute penyelundupan di sepanjang Pantai Pasifik Meksiko. Sandra sendiri dipenjara saat menghadapi tuduhan kejahatan terorganisir, pencucian uang dan konspirasi untuk obat lalu lintas.

Rosetta Cutolo (dipenjara 1993-sampai sekarang)

Wanita ini menjadi gangster karena rasa peduli dan berduka ketika saudaranya ditangkap kepolisian Italia. Dia kemudian meneruskan bisnis yang digeluti saudaranya itu. Setelah menyerbu markas polisi Italia di tahun 1981, dia menghabiskan 10 tahun sebagai buronan sampai akhirnya menyerah.

Maria Licciardi (dipenjara, 2001-sampai sekarang)

Setelah pindah ke New York dari Kolombia di era 70-an dan memulai karirnya dalam penyelundupan narkoba, Blanco pindah ke Miami untuk menghindari dakwaan. Di sanalah dia meletakkan dasar bagi Miami untuk menjadi ibukota kokain dari Amerika Serikat Jangan. Blanco diyakini telah mendalangi lebih dari 200 pembunuhan selama karirnya, termasuk (kemungkinan besar) ketiga suaminya. MS 13 : MARA SALVATRUCHA 13

Geng MS-13 adalah singkatan dari Mara Salvatrucha 13, adalah salah satu geng paling ditakuti di Amerika Serikat. Selain berbahaya, organisasi ini juga sangat terorganisir. Geng MS-13 memiliki geng-geng kecil, atau kelompok, yang disebar di seluruh Amerika Serikat. Selain di Amerika, MS-13 juga mempunyai ikatan dengan rekan-rekan El Salvador. di Amerika, mereka mempunyai ikatan dengan geng-geng di Washington DC, Oregon, Alaska, Arkansas, Texas, Nevada, Utah, Oklahoma, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Kanada, El Salvador, Guatemala, Meksiko, dan beberapa negara Amerika Selatan lainnya. MS-13 adalahh geng berskala "internasional" dan menjadi kelompok pertama yang akan dikategorikan sebagai "kejahatan terorganisir" entitas.

Bahkan setiap orang yang mau menjadi anggota gangster tersebut harus tahan untuk menjadi bulan-bulanan. Mereka harus tahan untuk digebukin oleh para anggota lainnya selama 30 detik

Seperti geng-geng yang lainnya, MS-13 ("La Mara"), adalah sebuah jalan di El Salvador dan "13th Street" di Los Angeles. Geng ini awalnya berada di El Salvador dan terdiri dari para gerilyawan yang berperang di El Salvador saat terjadi perang sipil. Ketika perang akan berakhir, operasi geng pindah ke dekat Honduras. Di Honduras, di mana keanggotaannya mencapai 36.000, geng ini terus berkembang dan berkuasa dan memakssa pemerintah Honduras untuk memberikan tindakan keras pada semua kelompok. Sejarah MS 13

Geng Mara Salvatrucha berasal dari Los Angeles, bermula tahun 1980-an oleh imigran dari El Salvador di kota Pico-Union. Banyak yang percaya bahwa Mara berhubungan dengan geng di El Salvador; ini mengartikan bahwa Salvatrucha mengarah pada gerilyawan El Salvador, yang dipercaya sebagai sumber anggota awal geng.

Awalnya geng ini bertujuan untuk melindungi imigran yang berasal dari El Salvador, yang dimulai lebih dulu dari Los Angeles, yang kemudian mulai mendominasi kaum Meksiko dan Afrika-Amerika. Untuk alasan ini geng hanya memperbolehkan orang yang berasal dari El Salvador untuk bergabung, tapi kemudian mulai memperbolehkan penduduk Amerika Tengah lainnya untuk bergabung.

Dalam beberapa tahun terakhir geng ini berkembang ke Washington, DC, khususnya di area Langley Park dan Takoma Park Washington dekat perbatasan menjadi pusat aktivitas geng MS-13.

Sejarah aksi kejahatan MS 13

Pada tanggal 13 Juli 2003, Brenda Paz, seorang wanita berumur 17 tahun, ditemukan ditikam di Sungai Shenandoah di Virginia. Paz dibunuh karena menginformasikan kegiatan Mara Salvatrucha pada polisi. Kemudian empat temannya divonis atas pembunuhan.

Pada 23 Desember 2004, satu dari pemberitaan MS-13 yang paling terkenal di Amerika Tengah, Chameleon, Honduras, ketika sebuah bus antarkota ditembak dengan tembak otomatis, membunuh 28 penumpang, sebagian besar dari mereka perempuan dan wanita. Pada Februari 2007, pengadilan memutuskan Juan Carlos Miranda Bueso dan Darwin Alexiz Ramizez termasuk beberapa aksi pembunuhan dan percobaan pembunuhan.

Pada 13 Mei 2006, Ernesto "SMOKEY" Miranda, salah seorang prajurit tinggi, yang juga merupakan pendiri Mara Salvatrucha, dibunuh di rumahnya di El Salvador beberapa jam setelah menolak menghadiri pesta untuk anggota geng yang baru keluar penjara. Ia mulai belajar hukum dan berusaha menjauhkan anak-anak dari geng.

Pada 4 Juni 2008, di Toronto, Ontario, polisi menghukum 22, menangkap 17, dan 63 lainnya mengikuti penyelidikan selama 5 bulan.

Pada 22 Juni 2008, di San Francisco, California, seorang anggota MS-13 yang berumur 21 tahun, Edwin Ramos, menembak dan membunuh ayahnya, Anthony Bologna, 48 tahun, dan kedua anaknya Michael, 20, dan Matthew, 16, setelah mobil mereka diblokir Ramos saat belok kiri di jalan sempit.

Pada 26 November 2008, Jonathan Retana divonis pembunuhan Miguel Angel Deras, yang diketahui ada hubungan dengan MS-13.

Pada Februari 2009, pihak berwenang di Colorado dan California menangkap 20 orang anggota MS-13 dan mengamankan 4,6 kg methamphetamine, 2.3 kg kokain, heroin, 12 senjata tangan dan uang tunai sejumlah $3.300, menjadikan ini penangkapan terbesar untuk geng ini.

Etimologi

Ada berbagai penjelasan tentang nama Mara Salvatrucha. Beberapa sumber mengatakan namanya berasal dari La Mara, sebuah jalan di San Salvador, dan Salvatrucha seseorang yang bertarung di El Salvador saat perang saudara. Selain itu, kata "mara" berarti geng di Caliche dan ini diambil dari marabunta, nama sengit tipe semut. "Salvatrucha" adalah sebuah koper dari Salvadoran dan trucha, sebuah kata Caliche untuk menjadi peringatan, biasanya mengungkapkan kesiapsiagaan untuk kejahatan atau penyalahgunaan dari polisi.

The art fair mechanism held twice, labeled Jogja Art Fair (JAF), was an event with a unique positioning in the social world of this country’s art scene. Especially when it is generally compared to other art fairs in the world. What makes it unique is that instead of inviting galleries participation in its event, JAF invites artists openly and directly to exhibit their works.

Now, JAF is announcing a new name, ART|JOG (pronounced: ART JOGJA). The aim is to make it easier for the event to offer interesting problems of course no to forget the contemporary context of each offered theme. Pada dasarnya merupakan sebuah perhelatan khusus pada sekelompok kecil yang mengakomodir pada efek luas kaum pemuda pada khususnya yang bersinggungan luas menuju pada aktivitas masa kini dan berada pada kawasan berkesenian secara luas tanpa batas.

Baik sekali rasanya menghadirkan beberapa istilah Hoby atau kebiasaan yang sangat erat sekali di lingkungan pemuda perkotaan yang melandasi oleh keinginan berkesenian tanpa menghiraukan pengaruh tatanan dasar tentang pola berkesenian di hiruk-pikuk santer pada disiplin kerja sebuah seni rupa.

Dan atas dasar aktivitas yang seragam dan sebendera kita memulai peraturan tentang bagaimana cara interaksi belajar bersama pada satu sistem yang terbentuk pada landasan bersama, satu subject berkesenian dan satu apresiasi seni. Pada khususnya langkah-langkah subculture “URBAN” yang menggaris bawahi aktivitas musik, street sport, street art dan street wear.

YK URBAN terbentuk pada pemikiran kepemudaan tahun 2009 yang melangkah kini dan dengan semangat saling menjaga untuk bersama satu aktivitas di kota Jogja ini. Diharapkan program yang akan dilakukan adalah aktivitas pameran, musik dan street art selama 1 tahun secara berperiode.

Jogjakarta is the city that I am loyal to. My story of street art in this city has been a long, long road. The story started in 2000 when my art first took to the streets, and has been winding its way through names and styles that I put-up on the st.

As a young boy Rolly saw the streets and corners of the city as a space for freedom, a space to extensively make art using many different mediums.
Out of this development grew LOVEHATELOVE as a message that everything in life is a process full of uncertainty. This three word sentence follows us through the streets, marking the presence of an idea as much as an individual. LOVEHATELOVE is an inner form of expression, indicating a process of color, brush stokes, bursts of spray which aim to warm up the frozen spaces of the city and show that he is among us. LOVEHATELOVE appears as pictures and letters, scratched, painted and pasted onto the walls of Jogjakarta. Through photocopied posters, stickers on bins, scratches, markers, drawing, spray and paint, LOVEHATELOVE appears in a huge variety of forms. Rolly covers himself with the cloak of night, but hopes that when the sun begins to rise, and our activities begin we will find the traces of his presence throughout our beautiful city.

An experimental collaboration interpreting sound through visual art. Through the process of looking and listening , the project hopes to engage the audience in a dialogue about why these mediums are so often separated.
Through structuralizing the process of listening, Pippin's technique is to translate the musical moment into shape, the musical mood into negative and positive space, and the playfulness of sound into representative animals, creating a surreal landscape. These landscapes are populated with statuesque people which represent the living presence of composers within their music. These landscapes do not aim to be didactic but to engage in a third level of conversation with the viewer, whose perception becomes the unknown outcome.

Tokoh perjuangan asal Surabaya, Sutomo atau akrab disapa Bung Tomo, akhirnya akan mendapat gelar pahlawan nasional dari pemerintah. Pemberian gelar pahlawan akan dilakukan bertepatan dengan peringatan Hari Pahlawan pada 10 November 2008 mendatang.

Rencana pemberian gelar kepada salah satu tokoh pertempuran melawan tentara Sekutu di Kota Surabaya pada Nopember 1945 itu disampaikan Menteri Komunikasi dan Informatika (Menkominfo), Mohammad Nuh, kepada wartawan di Surabaya, Minggu (2/11).

"Pemberian gelar pahlawan nasional kepada Bung Tomo menjadi kabar baik bagi masyarakat Surabaya dan Jawa Timur menjelang peringatan Hari Pahlawan," katanya.

Bung Tomo menjadi salah satu dari beberapa tokoh lainnya yang akan menerima gelar pahlawan nasional dari pemerintah dan menurut rencana akan diserahkan Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono di Jakarta pada 10 November mendatang.

Pemberian gelar pahlawan nasional kepada Bung Tomo, sekaligus mengakhiri polemik berkepanjangan yang sempat muncul dalam beberapa tahun terakhir. Usulan pemberian gelar pahlawan nasional kepada Bung Tomo pernah disampaikan kepada pemerintah, tapi tidak mendapat persetujuan. Selama ini, keluarga besar Bung Tomo juga tidak pernah mempermasalahkan gelar tersebut.

"Saya tidak tahu, mengapa gelar ini tidak diberikan sejak dulu. Bagi saya itu bukan persoalan, karena yang penting, sekarang Bung Tomo sudah diakui sebagai pahlawan nasional," ujar Nuh yang sebelumnya pernha menjabat Rektor Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya itu.

Menkominfo menjelaskan ada beberapa prosedur yang harus dilalui sebelum seorang tokoh perjuangan atau lainnya mendapat gelar pahlawan nasional. Prosedur itu di antaranya tokoh itu diusulkan sekelompok masyarakat kepada pemerintah provinsi, kemudian diteruskan kepada Departemen Sosial.

"Dari Depsos, usulan disampaikan kepada tim pemberi anugerah jasa-jasa nasional untuk ditindaklanjuti. Kalau dianggap layak dan sesuai persyaratan, maka tokoh itu akan mendapatkan gelar pahlawan nasional," jelas Nuh.

Ia juga menambahkan bahwa presiden memiliki hak prerogatif untuk memberikan gelar kepada seseorang yang dianggap berjasa kepada bangsa dan negara. "Tapi semuanya tetap melalui prosedur dan mekanisme yang berlaku," tambahnya.

Menurut Bambang, saat masih hidup, Bung Tomo pernah mengkritik Soekarno dan Soeharto ketika keduanya menjadi presiden. Bung Tomo pernah terlibat adu mulut dengan Bung Karno. Setelah itu, istri Bung Tomo, yang juga sahabat Fatmawati, melarang Bung Tomo datang ke istana.

Saat Orde Baru, pria kelahiran 1920 itu pernah mengkritik Soeharto soal pemerataan pembangunan. Soeharto pun marah dan memenjarakan Bung Tomo. “Bapak juga memberi wasiat tidak mau dimakamkan di taman makam pahlawan. Mungkin ini yang membuat pemerintah tersinggung,” ungkap Bambang. Bung Tomo dimakamkan di pemakaman umum di Ngagel, Surabaya.

Grafiti untuk Perangi Kejahatan Transnasional

Grafiti atau aksi corat-coret dinding tak selalu berarti sebagai tindakan jelek. Aksi corat-coret ini malah bisa dimanfaatkan sebagai media untuk sosialisasi kampanye tentang cara waspada terhadap kejahatan transnasional di Indonesia.
Dan inilah yang dilakukan Tim Koordinasi Interpol Indonesia dalam kampanye memerangi kejahatan transnasional. Kampanye ini dilakukan di tiga kota, yakni Yogyakarta, Jakarta, dan Bandung secara serempak pada Jumat (29/8). Di Yogya, aksi mengambil tempat di lima titik Jl Kleringan, Jl Sultan Agung, Jl AM Sangaji, tembok Stadion Kridosono dan tembok SD Bumijo. Yang dilibatkan dalam grafiti ini adalah komunitas Yorc Grafiti.
“Kalau kami pilih Grafiti untuk menyampaikan pesan waspada kejahatan transnasional di Indonesia, karena pesan yang dituangkan dalam seni gambar akan lebih mudah dimengerti dan diterima oleh masyarakat kita,” kata Renville Rizanul, Business Director Brains&Co, Communication Agency dari Tim Koordinasi Interpol Indonesia.
Hal ini dibenarkan Ipras dari Yorc Grafiti. Maka, ia bersama kelompoknya merasa bangga dilibatkan dalam memerangi kejahatan transnasional lewat seni. “Seni grafiti yang sedang kita garap ini bukan sembarangan karena untuk kampanye kejahatan transnasional di Indonesia,” kata mahasiswa jurusan Komunikasi Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta ini.
Untuk itulah Ipras bersama sembilan temannya memilih lokasi yang strategis untuk menorehkan cat yang penuh pesan tersebut.
Menurut Renville, kejahatan Transnasional seperti terorisme, narkoba, dan korupsi yang ada di Indonesia, merupakan kejahatan yang menonjol dan menimbulkan korban jiwa serta kerugian harta benda yang sangat besar. Sebagai contoh, aksi terorisme yang merupakan kejahatan dapat memecah belah persatuan dan kesatuan bangsa, menghancurkan perekonomian, serta mengakibatkan pengangguran.
Selain itu, lanjut Renville, ada juga ancaman kejahatan narkoba terhadap generasi muda yang sangat serius, karena menyangkut masa depan bangsa. Seperti disaksikan di media massa, berbagai
pengungkapan jaringan peredaran narkoba dan produksi narkoba dalam jumlah besar membuktikan bahwa ancaman itu ada di sekitar kita. “Kita harus menyelamatkan generasi muda kita dari pengaruh narkoba,” tambahnya.
Wakil Sekretaris Interpol Indonesia Kombes Pol Dr Benny J Mamoto, SH Msi, mengatakan keamanan dan ketertiban masyarakat adalah tanggung jawab seluruh masyarakat Indonesia. Tanpa bantuan dan dukungan masyarakat, polisi tidak bisa banyak berbuat karena dihadapkan pada berbagai kendala. Untuk itulah pihaknya mengajak masyarakat untuk mau peduli pada lingkungan, berhati-hati dan waspada terhadap segala hal yang mencurigakan yang potensial menimbulkan gangguan keamanan dan ketertiban masyarakat.
Oleh karenanya, Tim Koordinasi Interpol Indonesia mengimbau masyarakat segera melaporkan segala kejadian yang mencurigakan di lingkungan sekitarnya dan melaporkan segala bentuk kejahatan tersebut kepada aparat terdekat. “Atau tidak ragu-ragu melapor ke nomor hotline Lapor Dong 08121247247,” tegasnya.
Untuk setiap laporan yang terbukti kebenarannya dan mempunyai nilai pengungkapan yang tinggi, Tim Koordinasi Interpol Indonesia akan memberikan imbalan hadiah kepada masyarakat dan laporan tersebut akan langsung direspons dan ditindaklanjuti.
